Who operates Whitetail Atlas
Whitetail Atlas is operated by Antler Anchor Co LLC. This policy applies to the Whitetail Atlas iOS app, Android app, and whitetailatlas.com.
Information we collect
Account information may include your email address, authentication provider identifier, display name, and account settings. My Atlas stores saved records, saved searches, and notification preferences.
If you participate, we also process the stories, photographs, state or province, optional county, reported score, and other details you submit. Catalog contributions can include your message, source link, and contact email. Community Pages submissions include the page name, links, description, selected topics, optional broad region, and private contact name and email. The contact details and record of accepting the submission terms are visible only to you and authorized Whitetail Atlas reviewers. A device push token is stored only after you choose to enable notifications.
If you choose a distance-based event feature, the app may access your device location after you grant permission. Location access is used for the feature you requested and is not required for general browsing.
Whitetail Atlas also uses first-party analytics to understand how the app and website are used. This can include screens and sections opened, searches and filters used, content and profile views, saves, submission actions, sponsor impressions or clicks, platform, app version, and randomized session or visitor identifiers. Raw analytics event detail is retained for up to 90 days; aggregated metrics may be retained longer. Search terms that appear to contain an email address or long phone-number-like value are excluded from analytics storage.
How information is used
We use information to provide accounts and saved features, operate the moderated Community, review sources, corrections, and safety reports, remember contributors you choose to hide, send notifications you request, protect the service, understand feature usage, measure sponsor or advertising performance, diagnose technical problems, and improve Whitetail Atlas.
Public content and media rights
Community submissions stay private while pending. If approved, the story, media, and location details supplied with the post may become public. County is optional. Only upload media you own or have permission to share.
Community Pages directory listings remain private while pending. If approved, the page name, links, description, selected topics, and broad region are public. The directory links to the submitted pages and does not copy their photos, logos, or posts. The submitter’s contact details remain private. We count outbound visits from directory links as first-party analytics.
Catalog media is displayed only with documented permission or another valid rights basis. Original sources, publishers, creators, and rights holders remain credited.
Service providers, advertising, and sharing
Whitetail Atlas uses service providers for database hosting, authentication, file storage, app delivery, email sign-in, notifications, and error monitoring. Sentry may receive technical crash and diagnostic information when error monitoring is enabled; Whitetail Atlas is configured not to send default personally identifiable information to Sentry.
When programmatic advertising is enabled in the iOS or Android app, Whitetail Atlas may use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). The app is configured to request non-personalized ads and to request consent where required. Google may process device, app, network, advertising, and ad-interaction information as described in Google’s privacy policies.
Information is shared with service providers only as needed to operate these functions. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or to protect users and the service. Whitetail Atlas does not sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
Request deletion of your Whitetail Atlas account or data.
You can delete your account from My Atlas. Account deletion removes saved items, notification data, community posts, and uploaded community media. Catalog contributions may be retained without your account association so the research and review history remains intact.
You may also request correction or removal of specifically approved media. We will make a reasonable effort to remove it from active pages within 30 days, although temporary cached copies may remain outside our control.
Children
Whitetail Atlas is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Community safety
Approved Community posts can be reported for private review. Signed-in members can also hide a contributor so that contributor’s current and future Community posts no longer appear for them. Safety reports and hidden-contributor choices are not displayed publicly.
